Say "hello" to the Fruit-a-Bowl!

We are excited to announce the launch of the Fruitable Pilot Program in partnership with AMP Agency and Whole Foods Fresh Pond. Starting Monday, employees from AMP will be using the Fruitable app to explore new fruits and veggies, effortlessly track meals, compete with one another, access certified nutritional advice, and earn rewards!

Sign-up station at AMP Agency to launch the Fruit-a-Bowl
The month-long competition (a.k.a the Fruit-a-Bowl) aims to drive lasting behavior change by gamifying the adoption of fundamental nutritional guidelines and giving everyone a little nudge towards the produce aisle. Weekly prizes will be given out based on categories such as eating the largest variety of fresh produce, engaging in the app’s community forum to encourage teammates to eat healthy, and achieving top scores within teams. At the end of the month, the competition’s top scoring individual and top scoring team will be declared Fruit-a-Bowl champs.

All prizes for our Fruit-a-Bowl winners are gift cards that were generously provided by Whole Foods Fresh Pond as part of their continued commitment to supporting healthy eating and lifestyles for employees and their families everywhere.

Join our mailing list for more updates about this pilot and other developments at Fruitable!

Native strawberries from Ward's Berry Farm in Sharon, MA

Baking with bananas is a great way to make use of any fruit that’s a bit too ripe to eat straight. An picked up some particularly flavorful and juicy native strawberries from Ward’s Berry Farm in Sharon, MA to bake this bread.

Happy baking, everyone!

This recipe includes walnuts, but it can be easily modified for those who may be allergic.

ORANGES - to squeeze or not to squeeze?

As we work to develop fruitable into a useful application, we want to know what kind of information and presentation is appealing to you, our users! So, every few days we will highlight a fruit or vegetable and review seasonality, picking, storage, and also fine-tune our OPI (organic purchase importance) index.

We would love to hear your feedback along the way. So, tell us what you like and what you don't like; we will do our best to consider it for our future posts and the final website!

Fruitable Beginnings...

Hello and welcome to our blog!

College friends, lifelong foodies, and lovers of all things bright and leafy, we’ve had countless conversations over the years about everything from how to pick a watermelon to the art of peeling a pomegranate. It was one of these kitchen table conversations at our Cambridge apartment that led to Fruitable.

We envisioned a single, comprehensive, and easy to use source of information about fruits and vegetables; a place where we could share our passion for discovering new varieties and knowledge about organics, seasonality, and other useful insights for choosing fresh produce.
Our dream is to empower you at home and in the grocery store with the information you need to discover, choose, and prepare deliciously healthy food.
We need your help to make this a reality.
We are asking for 5-10 minutes of your time to complete a survey about your thoughts on nutrition and your grocery shopping habits.

We will keep you posted on our progress and thank you again for your support as we launch Fruitable!
